My lawyer sent the applications on June 1st and we have the receipts already. They cashed the checks by June 6th.

TSC USCIS Receipt Date 07/08/2008
Card Production Ordered Date: 09/02/2008.
There was no LUDs all the way and they did not ask me to do FPs. FPs were done in 10/2007 for I485.

We will each individually send flowers to Emilio Gonzalez to be delivered July 10th. There is a suggestion to use a paypal account where we contribute money. However no one has come forward to take over the account so far.
The theme of the note attached to the flowers should be Sympathy or Get well.

As far as I can remember all I needed for SIN card was my landing papers and my passport as ID. I did not open a bank account in Canada so I can't help you with that one.
Is there an advantage in opening a bank account if you plan to return to the US? Please let me know. I might want to open one myslef if it's going to help in anyway.

Totally agreed that quota increase is controversial and an alternative approach must be agreed upon - 1932, CIR and now SKIL has taught us that bitter lesson. I am not by any means questioning the wisdom of going after the low-hanging fruits like 485 filing etc. All I am saying is - we cannot assume everything else remains the same. Things like 485 filing etc are our niche goals - no corporate interest is served by that and in a brutally capitalistic country thats a huge disadvantage.The fact is ANY relief, whether it includes quota increase or not, still takes a lot of lobbying and money to introduce all on its own strength.Yours and mine promotion/career prospects are the least of the lawmakers' worries, however non-controversial it may be and however deserving we may be. The need of the hour is to increase our membership base and contributions - lets face it, 200k in funds is not going to get us too far on our own steam. If 6000 of us could achieve so much in an year, imagine what 100k will do. That way we will be a credible enough force to be heard and respected. It still beats me how we have only 6000 odd members despite the dire situation that the majority of EB applicants find themselves in since 2001.

All I am saying is, we should ask for provisions that our anti-immigrant friends will possibly not object strongly to. It is not simply a matter of promotions and career advancement anymore. My point here is that maybe it is time to take a little step back and realize that at this stage just having yearly EADs is SO MUCH of a blessing for both the individual AND the spouse (if applicable). Like someone on here mentioned, IV was formed because of Retrogression NOT because of GC delays.

In case, you didn't read, I said valid legal reasons.

Do we need to include a cover letter ?
Also I am sending the following documents.
1) copy I-485 receipt notice
2) copy of EAD (front and back)
3) two color photos
4) Filing fee check $340
5) Mailer stub received from previous EAD.
Am I missing anything else?

Your case is like me, except I am porting Priority date from my previous approved I-140 Eb3 case. Your new I-140 transferred to Texas Service centre because your employer comes under Texas Service centre. Your residency location also comes under Texas service centre. So you will receive I-485, I-765 and I-131 with SRC numbers. But it may take longer time.
Good thing is Texas Service center is processing I-140 applications in May 2007. Max they are taking 5 months. People are discussing about LUD, it doesn't matter. It seems Texas service centre doing some regular maintenance. If you register your old approved H1s, their LUDs also changing.

No, you cannot file for the PR card online and as far as I know same goes for the SIN card.
1) The officer will take down your information for the PR card during the landing process. The picture you sent them will be used for this and no need to take new pictures. However you need to give them a Canadian address for them to send you the PR card. They will not accept a US address and no PO boxes. So I suggest that you give a friend's or relatives's address if you plan to return to the US after landing. After your friend receives the PR card he can mail it to you in the US.
2) During the landing procedure you will receive a packet of documents and it will have information on how to apply for your SIN card. All you need to do is go to one of their offices on a weekday during working hours with your landing papers and fill a form. There too you need to provide a Canadian address.
In addition to these you must bring with you a list of goods you are bringing with you and a list of goods that will arrive later. This is to be submitted to Canadian customs. Then you must bring bankstatements etc proving that you have the required amount of funds.
When I landed I had not applied for AOS. So I am not sure what kind of effect the Canadian PR will have when you return to the US. Hope someone who landed after filing 485 would throw some light on that.

Guys please send the flowers...I know we dont have very good publicity like others...we need to find the way to get the media atten. One reporter might be intrested in our news not evry one, to get evey body atten we need to do it in samrt and in different way..guys bunch of people are thinking the flower day is good, other think it is not, we have this problem from ages.
If one send flowers or e-mail it is not news..if every body joins it is gonna be a greate news.

A single post from CORE IV can make a huge difference to herd the cattle (including myself) here. For Instance, AILA letter asking for H1B and EB relief today.
I had posted a modified version of their letter in our forum in which I had deleted asking for raise in H1 and retained only EB part. IF IV core thinks
this is a good (or a bad ) idea and suggests what to do, our members will be energized.
For my part, I have added my personal story, added the EB relief part of AILA letter and emailed two senators and one congressman in my state.
Also, the same letters signed are ready in an envelope to be snail mailed.
So, IV core, from time to time, when there is a campaign by AILA and other organizations which could help us, please suggest how you would like us to proceed.I am not trying to create more work for you, but as a member, I think it would benefit all of us.

Can we setup a separate payment account for those willing to contribute to this campaign? It becomes difficult to coordinate if every individual goes on to mail the flowers. Instead we should all contribute to the "send a flower" campaign and then the person in charge of the account should send those flowers (with the note) on a pre-selected date.
It makes things easier for people and they may be more willing to participate!
